Sikkim Manipal University or shortly known as SMU was formed when the Government of Sikkim and the Manipal Education decided to join hands together to provide best education to the students. The Sikkim Manipal University/SMU was established in the year 1995 and it is recognised by the University Grants Commission and also has the approval from Government of India.
The campus of Sikkim Manipal University is at Majitar and Rangpo. This place has Teesta river and Kanchendzonga mountains. The medical campus has the second largest Hospital in Sikkim and the courses offred are Medical, Pharmacy, Nursing and allied health. The technology campus runs courses such as Engineering, Manggement courses, Applied Science and Twinning Programs.
