Calicut University

Calicut University is the second university to be formed in the state of Kerala and in 1968 it began its working. In the initial stages only four departments was there in Post Graduate. Calicut became the biggest residential and affiliating University in the state of Kerala. With fifty four colleges in seven districts in Kerala.

At present the Calicut University has Thiry one departments in Post Graduates and over three hundred affiliated colleges. The campus is situated at Tenhipalam, Malapuram, Calicut, Kerala. The other educations offered by university are Zoology, Statistics, Sanskrit, Russian, Psychology, Physical Education, Physics, Philosophy, Mathematics, Malayalam, Library and Information Science, Life Science, Mass Communication and Journalism, History, Hindi, English, Commerce and Management Studies, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Botany and Arabic.

There are other office in the Calicut University campus such as The office of the Vice-Chancellor, University Library, Computer Centre, Educational Multimedia Research Centre, School of Distance Education, Pareeksha Bhavan and University administration.

The Calicut University also offer Distance Education for interested students at present sixteen graduate courses, thirteen post graduate and two diploma courses are offered by the university. The calicut University has a botanical garden for botony students . The garden is a lush green 20 ha which is closely around 50 acres of land with full of greenary around. There are huge varity of plants and trees in the garden. The botanical garden of Calicut university consists of octagonal green house, Royal palms, Oil palms, ginger zone, bamboosetum, medicinal plants and many more.
